Choose a small, repeatable workflow
Use research, connected actions and an executive briefing as the starting point. Give both tools the same non-sensitive sample material, recipient restrictions and success criteria. Write down the connected account, plan, language and setup time. A trial using different permissions or source data cannot establish a fair comparison.
Run the task in three stages
- Read: ask for a summary with links to the underlying records. Check that the correct account and date range were used.
- Draft: ask for the proposed update or message without sending it. Check facts, audience and any missing context.
- Act: in an isolated test destination, approve a clearly scoped action. Inspect the destination yourself and save its record identifier and timestamp.
Record whether each tool needs clarification, an account reconnection or a human approval. Count those interventions separately from failures. A useful approval step can be worth the extra interaction when an action represents your company.
Check privacy and recovery
Use a test account to check what a different workspace member can see. Personal mailbox content should not appear in a shared channel merely because the request started there. Review account-selection and destination checks before supplying confidential material.
Try a harmless revoked-permission or unavailable-destination scenario. A good result explains the blocker and what remains undone. If an action times out, inspect the destination before retrying so that an uncertain response does not create a duplicate message or event.
Measure the result you actually need
Keep a short record of correctness, completed destination records, human review minutes, latency, retries and credits or other charges. Compare the full workflow cost, including supervision. Do not turn a fast draft into a claimed completed task, and do not generalize one successful example into a reliability percentage.
Make the decision after the trial
