Set Up Cole on Slack in 5 Steps
Most AI tools force you to switch tabs, open a separate app, or copy-paste context back and forth. Cole works differently. It sits inside your Slack workspace as a team member. It is visible in channels, replies in threads, and works with the apps you connect. Your team can delegate tasks to Cole the same way they would message a colleague.
Here is how to get started.
01
Connect Cole from the Pocodot dashboard
Sign up at pocodot.ai and open the dashboard. Click Add to Slack and authorize Cole for your workspace. If your workspace needs admin approval for new apps, ask your Slack admin to approve it.
02
Add Cole to your team channels
Once connected, invite Cole to a channel with the Slack /invite command. You can add Cole to project channels or department channels. Cole replies when someone tags it, calls it by name or replies to it, so it will not add noise to your conversations or interrupt ongoing threads.
03
Mention @Cole to start delegating tasks
Type @Cole followed by your request in any channel where Cole is a member. Ask Cole to draft an email, research a prospect, summarize a thread, or check your calendar. You can also DM Cole directly for private tasks that do not need to be visible to the whole channel.
04
Connect your calendar and email for deeper automation
Connect Gmail, Google Calendar or Outlook to your Pocodot account. Once connected, Cole can check your calendar, put meetings on it, and draft emails using context from a Slack thread. Cole asks before any email goes out in your name.
05
Set up reminders and scheduled reports
Ask Cole for reminders and scheduled reports for your team. A reminder in #team-updates every morning. A weekly report you describe, posted every Friday. Tell Cole what you want, when, and which channel to post in. Cole posts it at the time you set.
Pro tip
Start in a private DM with Cole. Try a reminder, an email draft and a calendar check there before you bring Cole into team channels. Keep in mind that a channel uses only its own messages and notes, never your private chats.
What Can Cole Do in Slack?
Cole is not another notification bot. It is a full AI coworker that executes real tasks from your Slack channels. Here are six things you can delegate to Cole directly from a Slack message.
Draft a follow-up email
"@Cole draft a follow-up email to the client from this morning's call. Thank them and confirm we will send the proposal by Friday." Cole drafts it in your connected Gmail and asks before it goes out.
Check your calendar
"@Cole what's on my calendar tomorrow?" Cole reads your connected Google Calendar and posts a summary in the thread.
Research a prospect before a call
"@Cole pull up everything on Vertex Labs before our 2pm." Cole researches the company and posts a short briefing in the thread.
Summarize a long Slack thread
"@Cole summarize this thread and list action items." Cole reads up to 20 earlier messages of the thread and posts a summary with the action items.
Schedule a meeting for the team
"@Cole find 30 minutes this week for a design review with Sara and Mike." Cole checks your connected calendar and suggests open times.
Generate a weekly status update
"@Cole write a weekly update from what this channel discussed this week." Cole reads the channel's recent messages and drafts a short status report.
You type in plain language. Cole works out whether you need research, an email draft, a calendar check or a reminder.
Cole vs. Regular Slack Bots
Many Slack bots do one job, such as posting deploy notifications, running polls or managing standup check-ins. They are useful but narrow. Cole is different in three ways.
Persistent memory
Cole keeps notes on what you tell it, such as your preferences, your team's tools and past requests, and brings up the relevant ones in later conversations. If you told Cole in a channel last week that your CRM is HubSpot and your team meets on Tuesdays, Cole can still use that in that channel today. No re-explaining, no re-configuring.
Multi-channel presence
A Slack standup bot only works in Slack. Cole works across Slack, WhatsApp, Telegram, LINE, iMessage, email, and voice calls. Link them to one Pocodot account and your private chats with Cole share notes and recent context: start a task in your Slack DM with Cole and pick it up in your private WhatsApp or Telegram chat. Each group and Slack channel keeps its own.
Actual task execution
Cole does tasks, not just alerts. It drafts emails in your connected Gmail and asks before they go out, puts meetings on your calendar, researches companies and sets reminders. Cole works with the apps you connect from the integrations catalog.
The difference
Slack bots send you notifications. Cole does the work.
Use Cases by Team Type
Different teams use Cole differently in Slack. Here is how four common team types get the most out of it.
Operations
Process automation without leaving Slack
Ops teams ask Cole for reminders and scheduled reports in the channels where work happens, and for vendor emails that Cole sends only after you confirm. No workflow builder needed: describe what you want in plain language.
Sales
Research and outreach from deal channels
Sales reps mention @Cole in deal channels to research prospects and draft outreach emails. Asked in a thread, Cole reads the earlier messages there, so the draft uses what the team already said. If you connect HubSpot, you can ask Cole to use it.
Support
Replies with context from past interactions
Support teams use Cole in triage channels to draft customer email replies and to summarize a thread before handing an issue on. Cole can use the notes it kept in that channel, so your replies stay consistent.
Leadership
Stay informed without attending every meeting
Leaders ask Cole, in a channel it is in, for a summary of that channel's recent messages instead of sitting in every standup. Or they ask Cole to draft a one-pager for a board meeting from notes they give it.
How Cole Works in Slack
When you mention @Cole in a Slack channel, here is what happens behind the scenes:
1. Cole reads your message and any thread context. If you are replying in a thread, Cole reads up to 20 earlier messages of that thread. If you reference a previous request, Cole uses the notes it kept.
2. Cole works out what you need. A research question gets a researched answer. A scheduling request checks your connected calendar. An email request drafts in your connected mailbox for you to approve.
3. Cole uses your connected tools. Gmail, Google Calendar, HubSpot, Notion: Cole works with the apps you connect. You authorize once, and Cole uses your tools on your behalf.
4. Cole responds in the thread. Results appear right in the Slack thread where you asked. If Cole needs approval before executing something (like sending an email), it asks first. You stay in control.
Your private chats with Cole share context: notes Cole keeps in your private WhatsApp chat are there in your Slack DM with Cole, along with a short list of what you and Cole said in your other private chats in the last 24 hours. A Slack channel is kept apart: when you mention @Cole there, Cole uses only that channel's messages and notes, never your private chats.

Does Cole read every message in my Slack channels?
No. Cole replies when someone tags it, calls it by name or replies to it. Top-level channel messages not addressed to Cole are not kept. When asked in a reply inside a thread, Cole reads up to 20 earlier messages of that thread and, the first time, saves them with the thread's conversation, whoever wrote them. If someone asks, it can read up to 500 messages from the last 30 days of a channel it is in.
Can Cole work across Slack and other messaging platforms?
Yes. Cole works across Slack, WhatsApp, Telegram, LINE, iMessage, email, and voice calls. Link them to the same Pocodot account and your private chats with Cole share context: notes Cole keeps in one private chat are there in the others, and each one is given a short list of what you and Cole said in the others in the last 24 hours. So you can start a task in your Slack DM with Cole and pick it up in your private WhatsApp or Telegram chat. Groups and Slack channels are kept apart: each uses only its own messages and notes, never your private chats.
