End-to-End Encryption
End-to-end encryption (E2EE) is a security method where data is encrypted on the sender's device and can only be decrypted by the intended recipient, preventing any intermediary from reading the content.
End-to-end encryption ensures that only the sender and intended recipient can read a message. Even the service provider that transmits the message cannot access its content. This is the strongest form of communication security, used by messaging apps like Signal and WhatsApp.
For AI platforms, there is an inherent tension with end-to-end encryption.
