Cole works inside a lot of different conversations at once: private chats, team groups, family groups, and the apps people connect. The question we hear most from teams is simple. How does what belongs to me stay with me?
Here are the plain answers, as Cole works today (October 2026).
Everything belongs to one account
Every message, note, file, task and app connection Cole keeps is tied to the account it came from. When Cole answers you, it loads only what belongs to your account and to the conversation it is answering in.
Private chats and groups stay apart
What you tell Cole in a private chat stays in your private chat. What a group says stays in that group. When someone asks Cole something in a group, Cole works from that group's history, not from your private chats or your other groups.
If a group asks for something that needs your private context, Cole does not pull it into the group. It leaves a note in your private chat and picks it up with you there.
In WhatsApp and LINE groups, Cole sees what members write as background, and it replies only when someone tags it, uses its name, or replies to one of its messages.
New people in a group
When someone joins a WhatsApp, LINE or Telegram group, Cole answers them using only what was said after they joined. Anything older waits until the account that pays for the group says yes, in its private chat with Cole.
Members who are not part of the paying account can talk to Cole in the group, but Cole will not use that account's email, calendar, connected apps, payments or calls for them without a one-time yes for that group. More on this in How Cole works in group chats.
Files you share
Documents and photos sent in a chat are kept for seven days for that chat only, so Cole can refer back to them. They cannot be read from any other chat.
Notes, privacy and "forget"
Notes belong to the person who made them. Ask Cole to keep something private and it will. Ask it to forget something and it will.
Saved logins
When you let Cole sign in to a website for you, the login is stored encrypted with AES-256-GCM, using a key unique to your account. That key is derived from a master key that is never stored in the database.
Cole's AI never sees the password. It is typed straight into the page by Cole's browser, only on the website it belongs to, and every use is logged. Deleting a saved login removes it completely.
Important actions wait for you
Before Cole does something with consequences, such as a purchase, it asks you to approve it, and it acts only once you have.
Deleting everything
"Delete my workspace" in your settings permanently deletes your account and its data from Cole. You can also remove Cole from any group like any other member.
