A reminder bot for your WhatsApp group

To get a reminder bot in a WhatsApp group, add Cole's number to the group and write something like "Cole, remind everyone on Friday at 6pm to bring the deposit." Cole confirms the day, time and time zone, then posts the reminder in the group when it is due, once or on a daily or weekly schedule.

    Set it up once

    01
    Sign up and connect WhatsApp
Create a free Pocodot account and choose WhatsApp. The dashboard opens WhatsApp with a one-time code already typed; send it to Cole and Cole replies in your private chat.
    02
Add Cole's number to the group
Add the same Cole number you just messaged as a participant, the way you add anyone. Cole cannot join from an invite link, and it cannot see messages from before it joined.
    03
Tag Cole once from your number
Send @Cole hi in the group from the WhatsApp number on your account. Cole answers from your own credits, then asks you once, in your private chat, whether your account should pay for everyone in the group. Say yes, and everyone in the group can ask Cole. Nobody becomes the payer without saying yes.

Ask for a reminder in the group

Write it the way you would say it to a person. A reminder set in the group goes to the group.

    One time
"Cole, remind everyone tomorrow at 8am that the bus leaves at 9."
    Every week
"Cole, every Monday at 9am remind the group to post their hours."
    Every weekday
"Cole, every weekday at 9am remind the team to post today's plan."
    For named people
"Cole, remind the group on Friday at 6pm that Ploy and Ben bring the drinks."
    Money
"Cole, remind everyone on the 25th at 10am to transfer their share."
    Before a vote closes
"Cole, on Thursday at 6pm remind everyone to vote in the dinner poll."

Cole says the day, time and time zone back, so a mistake is easy to spot. Correct it in the chat: "Cole, make it 7pm instead."

    Time zones

Cole uses the time zone from the account's settings or the asker's phone number, or the one you name, such as "6pm London time". If a phone number's country has more than one time zone, Cole asks which one you mean.

    Check, move or cancel

    • List: "Cole, what reminders are set for this group?"
    • Move: "Cole, move the deposit reminder to Saturday at 10am."
    • Cancel: "Cole, cancel the deposit reminder."
    • Stop a repeating one: "Cole, stop the Monday reminder."

Anyone in the group can ask Cole to list, move or cancel a one-time reminder there. Starting or stopping a repeating request in a group needs someone from the account that pays for Cole there, unless that account allows everyone. To change a reminder's wording, cancel it and ask for a new one.

    Limits that protect the group

    • At most 3 reminders an hour in a group, at least 20 minutes apart, and never a series every few minutes.
    • A one-time reminder is the text Cole wrote when you set it, sent as a normal message from Cole. It does not @mention anyone, so write names into it.
    • A reminder for a later time is set in the group itself. From your private chat, the account owner or an admin can have Cole post a message in the group right away, after approving the exact text, but not schedule one for later.

    What it costs

    • Setting, moving or cancelling a reminder is priced like a short reply: a few credits.
    • A one-time reminder that is already set is still sent if the credits run out, at no charge.
    • Repeating reminders are skipped while the paying account has no credits, and the account is told.
    • Cole is free to start with 150 one-time credits, and paid plans start at $19 a month for 2,000 credits.

    Frequently asked questions

Is there a reminder bot for WhatsApp groups?
Yes. Add Cole's number to the group and ask in the group, for example "Cole, remind everyone on Friday at 6pm to bring the deposit." At that time Cole posts the reminder in the group, where everyone sees it.
Can a bot send a weekly reminder to my WhatsApp group?
Yes. Ask "Cole, every Monday at 9am remind the group to post their hours." Cole sets up a weekly schedule, and daily works too. Starting a repeating reminder needs someone from the account that pays for Cole in the group, unless that account allows everyone.
    Will the reminder tag people?
A one-time reminder arrives as a normal message from Cole and does not @mention anyone. Write the names into the reminder when it is meant for someone in particular.
How many reminders can Cole send to a group?
At most 3 an hour in one group, at least 20 minutes apart, and never a series every few minutes, so a group is not flooded.
Can I schedule a WhatsApp group message from my private chat?
Not for a later time. From your private chat, the account owner or an admin can have Cole post a message in the group right away, after approving the exact text. For a later time, ask Cole in the group itself.
What does a group reminder cost?
Setting, moving or cancelling a reminder is priced like a short reply: a few credits. A one-time reminder that is already set is still sent if the credits run out, at no charge. Cole is free to start with 150 one-time credits, and paid plans start at $19 a month for 2,000 credits.
