An AI for your family or friends' group chat
Cole is an AI assistant you can add to your family or friends' group chat on WhatsApp, LINE or iMessage: it answers when someone uses its name, posts reminders for everyone and can sum up what the group already decided. One person with a free Pocodot account sets it up and agrees to pay for the group, and on WhatsApp and LINE nobody else then needs an account.
What a family or friends' group can ask Cole
Cole stays quiet until someone asks. Here is what groups use it for:
From your private chat, Cole can also do things that use your own accounts: add the dinner to your calendar, draft an email, or on a paid plan call a restaurant for you. Calls reach numbers in the United States, the United Kingdom and Thailand, and Cole confirms the number and the reason before it dials.
Set it up on your app
Add the Cole number you chat with as a participant in the group, then tag Cole once from the WhatsApp number on your Pocodot account. Cole answers you from your own credits, then asks you once, in your private chat, whether your account should pay for everyone in the group. Say yes, and everyone in the group can ask Cole. LINE
Add @pocodot as a LINE friend, invite Cole into the group and ask Cole something there. Cole answers you from your own credits and asks you, in your private chat with Cole, whether your account should pay for the group. After your yes, anyone in the group can ask, with or without an account. Full steps: how to add AI to a LINE group.
iMessage
Add Cole's number, +1 614 531 8571, to the group and start messages with "Cole". In iMessage, each person who wants Cole to answer them connects their own number to a free Pocodot account. Full steps: how to add AI to an iMessage group chat.
House rules for the group
- Only when asked: "Cole, from now on only answer when someone asks you a question."
- A nickname: give Cole a name your group likes. A nickname agreed in a group stays with that group.
- A language: "Cole, answer in Thai in this group."
- Off switch: the person who pays can turn Cole off in one group from their private chat with Cole.
- On WhatsApp only: the payer can also let only members of their account use Cole, set a monthly credit limit per person, or leave someone out.
Cole never leaves a group on its own. To remove it, remove Cole from the group like any other member.
Privacy in a family group
- In WhatsApp and LINE groups, Cole keeps the group's messages as background, including ones that do not mention it. Tell your group before you add Cole.
- What you tell Cole in a private chat stays in your private chats. Nothing from your private notes comes into the group.
- What the group says stays with that group's conversation. Files shared in a chat are kept for 7 days.
- Cole will not use the payer's email, calendar, connected apps, payments or calls for people outside the payer's account unless the payer says yes.
- In WhatsApp, LINE and Telegram groups, someone who joins later is answered from what was said after they joined. If an answer needs something from before, Cole first asks the account that pays for the group, in its private chat. iMessage groups do not have this rule.
The full rules are on how Cole works in group chats.
Who pays
One account pays for Cole's replies in a group: the person who agreed to, when Cole asked them in a private chat. Nobody becomes the payer without saying yes, and the group is not told who pays. Until someone says yes, each person with an account pays for their own questions, and on WhatsApp and LINE people without an account are not answered; a new WhatsApp group may get one free answer and a note on how to set it up. Once there is a payer, the rest of the group on WhatsApp and LINE does not pay and does not need an account. If the payer runs out of credits, a member who has their own Pocodot account with credits pays for their own questions until the payer adds more.
Cole is free to start with 150 one-time credits. Paid plans start at $19 a month for 2,000 credits. A busy group that chats with Cole a lot uses credits faster, so the "only answer when someone asks you a question" rule is a good first setting. See current plans.
